FACTS
The FACTS system is a financial need verification system, very similar to the FAFSA program for post-secondary education.
Family Tuition Cap Scholarship
Beginning in the 2025-2026 academic year, The Family Tuition Cap Scholarship is no longer available through the Good Shepherd Scholarship program. St. Michael Parish will continue to fund family cap scholarships for families who are within 225% of the Federal Poverty Level and have more than three students in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade who attend St. Michael Catholic School and/or Pius X Catholic High School. The scholarship will cover the cost of tuition for the 4th and each subsequent student registered at St. Michael. Families will be responsible for all other fees. Families must apply in FACTS to be considered for the St. Michael Parish Family Cap Scholarship.
The Good Shepherd Scholarship
The application deadline for the 2026-2027 school year has been extended to April 15, 2026

Education Freedom Tax Credit
Beginning in January 2027, The Education Freedom Tax Credit will allow eligible taxpayers to receive a dollar-for-dollar federal income tax credit of up to $1,700 for qualifying contributions to Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGOs) - like Opportunity Scholarships of Nebraska (OSN). These organizations then provide scholarships to eligible K–12 students.
To qualify, a student must be eligible to enroll in a public K–12 school, and the household income must generally be no more than 300% of the area median gross income. As a result, many Nebraska families may qualify to apply for an Education Freedom Scholarship. The timeline for accepting applications and beginning scholarship awards has not yet been announced. We will share additional information with families as it becomes available.
